Attached, please consider a CFP for a Workshop “Sport Mega-events before and after the 2024 Paris Olympics”, that will take place on December 11, 2024 in Paris Sorbonne Nouvelle.

This workshop seeks to explore the interdisciplinary debate on sportive mega-events after the Paris 2024 Games in terms of identity, security, borders and bodies. The tentative list of topics includes but is not limited by the following issues: 

• The geopolitics of the Olympics: why the grown cities are still interested (or not) in hosting sport mega-events; 
•  Cities as the setting for the Olympics: Cultural heritage, urban transformations and conflicts; 
• Olympics and security in public and cyber spaces; 
• Olympics and sport in times of war: values, norms, actors, institutions and practices ; 
• Bodies and the Olympics: gender and disability- based distinctions and contestation; 
• Green agenda and the Olympics; 
• Olympics Games and nation-building. 

Scholars interested in participation are invited to send an abstract (up to 300 words) and a short bio (up to 120 words) as one pdf file by October 27, 2024, 23:59 CET to Alexandra Yatsyk. 

The participants will be informed about the acceptance of their proposals by November 3, 2024.

The working language of the workshop is English.
